On Sunday, I hosted my very first tea party - yes, very first - at twenty-five. Hey, better late than never!
Regardless of date/time/age, it was a hit; even if only 6 girls could make it! The food was ace, and the laughs were even better. I may be suffering from a super annoying cold now, but I have more sundays like that one to look forward to and get excited about planning!! It's pretty amazing how doing something so....domesticated? or....vintage? haha, I dunno, tea parties are definitely not the 'done thing' in circles that I run in, but it's amazing how doing something so out-of-the-norm can really bring everyone together and cause people to step even further from the everyday; people brought cakes! And sandwiches! people MADE cakes and sandwiches - these are the same people who only the night before were in such places as Grange-Over-Sands and Kendall and other towns hosting underground clubs, DJing ALL night, or being DJed TO all night - and yet, they still got excited enough about my lousy tea party that they prepared the day before and showed up. That's all they had to do too, show up - and it was fabulous. So yeah, tea parties definitely not something we were familiar with, however - I have a feeling they are now here to stay. And besides - what's so different about a tea party than sitting at the pub? Aside from the dresses, cakes, conversation and lack of smelly old men and dogs? - Case in point. Tea parties are the new Sunday...who knows they may even take over Saturday night.......
My head feels better already.
